In the same year, he entered the Geology and Geography Department of Azerbaijan University. He worked at the Azerbaijan Institute of Sciences after graduating. In 1983, he defended his thesis and became a Ph.D.
In 1990, he was appointed head of the laboratory. In the early 1990s, Izek first showed himself in a new capacity and began to publish in Baku newspapers, covering the foreign policy issues of the young independent state of Azerbaijan. He was a freelancer for the newspaper “Freedom.” In 1995, Izek’s first book was published in Baku, “Self-knowledge of the Amateur.”
In 1996, the writer and his family immigrated to the USA. Like most immigrants, Izek started from scratch. Having tried many professions, he found his calling in a new field and became a social worker. Since 2017, he has been collaborating with a Russian publishing house, which published two books, “Black Gold and Russian Empire” and “The Last Illusion.” His books were highly appreciated by experts, and the “Russian Award” included his novels in the shortlist.
“The Last Illusion” is a story that takes place on the eve of the year 2000, two millennia ago. The main character of the story is the son of former Soviet immigrants. This young, intelligent, and successful manager of a large American corporation lives and works in New York. Joseph returns to the former Soviet republics for the first time in 20 years, hoping to reconnect with old pals. Things he knows shake him. All three of his pals were slain in the battles in Chechnya (Russia) and Karabakh (Azerbaijan).
